Litho
Day two of the workshop proved enjoyable if very tiring. I started out with some experiments to see what drawing media could be used to make images on the polyester litho plates, in the hope of finding something with more textural possibilities than a biro. The results were mixed. Traditional litho crayons worked well but other media didn’t seem to stick well to the surface of the plate.
In the end I did a sketch of a rocky shoreline with the crayon (see extra) and then made a copy of a modified photograph onto a transparent plate using a laser printer (main photograph) Both techniques worked and the prints were nice and dark. I think I will persevere with the technique at home as it has possibilities but I think more experimentation is needed.
It was great to see so many of my printmaking colleagues again - many I only see annually but have got to know quite well over the years that we have done workshops together.
It was a mostly dry day but remarkably dull - the best type of weather for printmaking.
