Globe artichoke

A friend grew globe artichokes from seed and gave me seedlings. I planted this one out about 6 weeks ago and it spent a long time sitting there developing its root system but it's finally starting to shoot up. 

I'm very happy I now have an artichoke growing in my flower bed at the front. They look very architectural, need the sunniest position you can give them and the spikes might keep pigeons off that bed haha!
