If the brain fits.....
What fun we had at the California ScienCenter with the second graders today!
We weren't sure we were going to even make it there. Christine (the brain model) and I got so hopelessly lost. With 2 GPS systems and 2 written directions, you'd think we'd have no problem. We should have just followed the bus with the kids. Somehow, we missed a freeway or an off-ramp and ended up near USC, City Hall, and going in circles around Chinatown! (We may have been talking too much :P ) There is a long, dark tunnel underneath City Hall, disguised as "3rd Street". What a sight-seeing tour! Tried to take a picture of the classic Chinatown buildings, lanterns strung across alleys, but the camera wasn't cooperating for my co-pilot. It seems all roads lead to Ceasar Chavez Blvd. We laughed so hard, we cried.
We finally arrived at 10:45. Only missed half of the IMax 3D show. Then we were given charge of 8 curious 7 & 8 yr olds to tour the museum. Much like herding cats.
I expected an uneventful field trip today and welcomed the humorous chaos! It's a sad & tough week for us. They are closing our school in 2 days, due to "declining enrollment". Especially, Christine. She attended our school as a student and now her daughters are students there AND she's our fabulous PE teacher. Triple whammy.
AND when I got back to school, I opened my big mouth (I'm good at that) and gave some quotes to the local newspaper reporter about my feelings of us closing. (Well, she asked!) Can't wait to see how they misquote me in the paper tomorrow!
