bad dogs, no wildlife
It seems that every time we turn left at Blackhead and scramble over the rocks, rather than right and along the soft sands, that we end up have some sort of adventure. The last one involved dogs perched on a sloping slab of rock 10m above the crashing surf, skittering towards the edge. The time before that involved climbing up to the quarry above and Phoenix finding the rankest, slimiest, deep mud bog he has ever found and becoming the creature from the black lagoon.
This time I was standing on top of one of the big boulders about to snap a shot of the dogs looking up when a small fur seal made a break for the open sea from under the boulder I was standing on. I clicked the shutter then scrambled down to pull the dogs away from him/her. They have never hurt any wild creature but they bark and bark and terrify the poor things so I had to move quickly (the seal picked the wrong route and boxed itself in between to irish setters and a hard place). Least of all, I didn't want to carry a dog home with a seal bite...
