This is the caterpillar of the Alder Moth (Acronicta alni) feeding on a hazel leaf. It's the first time I've ever seen one.

Today wasn't as wet as I'd expected. I did some housework and then the rain went off a bit so I had a nice walk, nibbling on wild raspberries along the way. A second walk tonight to take Jess for a swim and that's when I spotted this fella.
