Rusted bike chains

On the way home from work I realised I had quite a squashy back tyre on my bicycle so I stopped off at a bike workshop nearby to see if I could borrow a pump. The bike mechanic wasn't there (it's a one man operation) so I carried on home, but I snapped this pile of rusty chains on the ground next to the door before I left.
