White Egret

It was so sweet to see a family of geese and this huge white egret enjoying the wetlands. The reality is that this is a drainage pond next to a shopping mall that was built back when this entire area was wetlands. The habitat was decimated, but the wildlife has adapted. We still have an amazing variety of wetland birds in this now very urban area.
My extra is from last night. It is an osprey nest on a car ferry named "Accomack" that was scuttled at Mallows Bay. We were there at sunset and the views were extraordinary.
