At the end of the day
A very enjoyable and busy day on a learning turn at Rolvenden signalbox. Sundays are the busiest day on the railway with 5 service trains and the Sunday lunch Pullman which does two round trips.
The timetable has three crossing moves at Rolvenden too, which adds a further dimension as these moves are intricate and precise requiring careful and systematic actions akin to a dance involving levers, collecting, processing and distributing tokens, bells and timers.
Glad to report that everything worked well and we finished on time. It’ll now be three weeks or more until I get another turn here which makes learning the box more difficult than if we had a week of continuous practice.
