I did it! Wanted to make this (obscene) cake after seeing it in mum's Good Food magazine (see yesterday's entry).

Up early to go food shopping with dad. Cleaned the house. Went to Mirabel. Started to follow the other recipe that I wanted to make - guinea fowl with chorizo and thyme - and realised that because I'd bought a whole bird, I'd have to butcher it. Thanks to @nopigtoobig for his help via Twitter, I was able to do it. Rather successful it was too.

The casserole turned out great and so did the cake - amazing!! Not too difficult to do either in the end.

Pierre arrived just before 8pm and we ate together. Lovely evening.
