Arch rivals
Taken looking towards the Canongate and the Café Truva on the Royal Mile. A rare opportunity to take a photograph without traffic getting in the way. I think these arches are more likely to be a gift from the 1960s brutalist style of architecture rather than anything to do with what had been there before. It reminds me of a Scottish version of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana - started out with a plan but got cold feet in case it upset the neighbours. Not that I like it, or the materials used, but I do like the shapes it makes in this instance.
