timbered parlor

Wandered into town to pick up some essential items of clothing. I managed to miss the rain. In the afternoon I got to explore another empty house in Ingelfingen, in fact it was too houses next to each other. The first one is unusual in that it features a timbered parlor (main blip). The wood was cut in the winter of 1294/95 which dates the house to very old. People lived in both house until the early 2000s. They have been empty since. The cellar featured the wooden hook (extra) to hang up food so the rats can't get to it.

The other house is not as old and looks a little bit more practical but would need a lot of work. The old house is listed but there is no plan for either house. It is amazing to see these ancient houses and to consider that today's buildings are designed to last for a few decades. Anyway, there is a plan to create a little website for the house. Maybe a use can be found and the house can be preserved for another few centuries.
