Flying Shrimp

Is it a bird? Or an insect? It’s a clearwing hummingbird moth, which is an insect. We have two varieties in Maine and this is one of them, the Snowberry clearwing. Their nickname is Flying Lobster but MrsP disagrees, she sees a Flying Shrimp • I saw both moths again today and they christened our new butterfly bush, the one pictured. Yes, we visited our favorite plant store to buy another bush, plus picked up a dwarf pussywillow tree. A blazing star may have found its way into our cart, too :) • The garden store was buzzing on overdrive with so many bees, hummingbird moths, dragonflies and butterflies visiting their plants, most in bloom. It would be a great place to bring a camera • While there we saw our first Meadow Fritillary butterfly • Peace & Love
