A baking challenge

Monsieur B gets to choose his birthday cake each year, and it’s usually something tried and tested. This year, however, he requested a pastel de nata (Portuguese egg tart), so it was a brand new bake for me. Egg yolks were sieved (who knew?!), custard made (very exciting when it all came together) and pastry blind baked. Then baked again. And finally the big moment. Candles, wishes and tasting. It was delicious!
