Double Take

Our church café is mostly staffed by volunteer Mums, so it closes during the school holidays. However, on Wednesdays in the summer, after the 10.30 communion service in church, it’s open for people to socialise over a cup of tea or coffee provided by one of the church staff. 

I went to communion this morning, taking with me a double batch of my famous oaty ginger biscuits called ‘Nutty Joys’ (all 48 of them) and put them on the café counter. After the service people helped themselves as they collected their drinks, and I’m pleased to say they went down rather well! Some were taken upstairs to give to staff in the church office, some were given to one or two people who live alone to eat at home, and some were kept to be served tomorrow at the bereavement group. This sign had caught my eye as I arrived at church; I actually spotted the Ukrainian writing before the English writing, and did a double take!
