Lake Como

Today we headed out of the city to Lake Como, and what we realised is that Italians don't do organisation very well.

We got off the train at 10.15am and were greeted by a queue to get the ferry which was so long that by the time we got our tickets the ferry was sold out until 1.30pm. The queue to get on the ferry started at 12.45pm and half the queue, who had tickets, didn't get on the boat. We were only allowed to buy a one way ticket so spent another 40 mins queuing for the return journey which was a complete nightmare.

The 2 hour boat ride back, once we had squeezed, pushed, forced our way on was a delight. There were several, 'and breathe moments'.

The evening was spent listening to a couple fight over who listened and who didn't. Our waiter, perhaps to compensate, kept giving us free lemoncello. So much was drunk that I appear to have lost my glasses!!!!!!! Can't see a chuff.

Add to that the bites I received last night have made my hand swell and the pharmacy concoction seems to be useless. You may get the impression we are keen to leave Milan. You may not be wrong. Hopefully I get on the right plane!
