Pattern making

This hat shape is proving quite difficult to achieve in a fabric, as opposed to straw or felt, so I am now on approach 4, and have decided to make a ‘flat pattern’ and make the brim part and crown part separately.   I think this ‘should’ work…. 

I ran it past some hat making friends, but apparently I bemused them maths and geometry… I think it might be my weekend task!
