Uphill all the way

A day of ascending - from Encamp in the main valley of Andorra up to Refugio d’lilla close to the Spanish border. So close in fact that once I’d settled in, I did walk up and over I to Spain. There’s a frontier fence and cowgate that seems mainly aimed at keeping marauding Spanish livestock out of Andorra.

It was a beautiful walk up the Madriu valley - a world heritage site. I stopped part way up for a picnic and Walt indulged on a photoshoot - he fancies himself as an instagram influencer I suspect!
