Grebe

Have you ever tried to take a photo of a grebe ? You get it into focus - and it disappears under water. This little beauty at Croxall Lakes was really taking the mickey.  Finally I got a shot before it dived……but I was trying for a clearer one !

After the Lionesses had finished, and it was apparently not going to be overcast all day, I went back to one of my Big Butterfly Count spots to see what was around.

Still no Painted Lady.
Still no Small Copper or Common Blue
No Small Tortoiseshell today.
But two Peacocks, a banded Demoiselle, a hawker and a dragonfly……. 
And the Gatekerpers, assorted Whites and Red Admirals.
Not too bad.
