Wells Cathedral

The day started early as we checked out of The Old Crown Hotel in the middle of the city. Before we set off home we visited the cathedral, something we had been meaning to do throughout our stay nearby. It was magical to be in this sacred building early in the morning before any other visitors. The nave has beautiful proportions, more pictures on extra. We were fascinated by the very ancient 24hr clock. On the quarters three knights rode in a circle up above and the strike came from a character high up banging his feet against the bell! Holiday over, we set off for home. We stopped for yet another pub lunch not far short of home after N had been driving for three hours. I don’t know how he does it!
