Through the square window

Not as attractive as my bush cricket yesterday, I'll grant you, but interesting nonetheless.  I spotted three of these flies on different windows today; all standing still, all facing downwards and all with a clear blob of some sort of liquid at their front.  I don't know if they are consuming or producing the blob, but it was quite distinctive.

Taken through the window looking out.  Clearly the window needs cleaning but the window cleaner is overdue, having lost his assistant.  Hopefully he'll come round soon.
