Zebra, Mahango National Park, Namibia

One of the first animals that we saw when we entered the Mahango National Park early this morning. We packed up as soon as it became light this morning and did the short drive to the NP that follows the Okavango river. It’s a self drive safari and we saw many different animals and birds in the three hours that we were there including giraffes, hippos, zebra, monkeys, baboons, kudu, impala, elephants and vultures. I will need some time to identify the many fabulously colourful birds. It’s an incredible national park and all the more special because we only saw two other cars there.
We then drove over the Namibian border into Botswana, stopping at both border posts to fill in the paperwork. We will have two nights here then head back again. The campsite is once again next to the river although our plot is on a tributary. No one else seems to be staying here but we did see hippo prints around our plot and around the toilet block so we might be in for a noisy night again.

I’m struggling to find any wifi each evening so I apologise for not responding to any blips. Tonight we were escorted by night guards to another lodge so we could have a drink and use their wifi. They didn’t want us walking alone in the dark!
