All cried out

It was not supposed to be like this

After the big excitement of leaving primary school came the subsequent sad realisation that he did actually love the place and especially the people there.
But, hey, there was a whole summer of fun to be had and plenty of things to look forward to.
First up was a sleep over with his long-standing best friend.
About 5 hours in, he was brought cruelly down to earth with more than a bump, slipping out of a tree.

'I don't want a broken leg', he sobbed in A&E before the X-rays. After plastering, much waiting and another 2 rounds of X-rays, he'd had enough; he was physically, emotionally and tearfully drained.

Every single member of the staff at Eastbourne DGH (and we saw quite a few), without exception, were kind, supportive, encouraging and lovely. How they do it when they are so clearly under-resourced, is hard to understand.

After the journey home, the little man summoned the energy and determination to do the last bit across the green using his new crutches. Come September, he'll have shoulders like Atlas and at least one very strong leg. Those will serve him well on the rugby field.
