Are we friends?

This is the first time I see a magpie goose this morning. Not much of communication but co-exists peacefully. 

Another new one in the extra.  The big stem grows out from the middle of the plant. I do not know the name of this plant. I haven’t seen it flowering like this before. A passerby says it’s sort of cactus family. If you know what it is will be great. :)
