Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 279

The day began in windy chilly Bratislava where a state of emergency was announced this afternoon as the Danube is running 11 metres above its normal levels through Slovakia. By lunchtime we were changing buses on Princes Street amidst sunbathing office workers and beach bound Porty day trippers. Usually the best European summer sun is found in the non UK destinations but on this trip the best summery weather by far was to be found here at origin! I cycled to Musselburgh this afternoon and took this blip of Portobello beach on the way back. It was wonderful to feel that "Mediterranean" seaside effect so far north!
