Perth

We drove up for a walk around Perth. We’d hardly gone a step when a man and wife local historian couple were explaining the shift in theTay’s course vis a vis the city centre’s frontage, the route of the railway and the condition of the dam wall at Pitlochry. Needless to say it was genuinely fascinating. Later we bumped into them and they pointed out above us William McGonagall’s digs in Perth before he left for Edinburgh and was eventually buried in the Greyfriar’s kirkyard.

It was sad to see how Perth’s town centre has emptied out and the how commerce is thriving on the bypass and periphery . A common malaise perhaps and more sad for it.

Nice evening with T, J and The Boss watching evening slip towards the sharp crystal profile of the waning midsummer’s northern light.
