Sago Palm

There are lots of these giant plants growing around the chalet we are staying in this week. 
Sago palms are not really palm trees at all. They are cycads, a group of seed plants with ancient roots related to cone bearing conifers. Other names for this type of sago palm include king sago, palm cycad, or Japanese funeral palm.
This one was about a metre across. There is a shot in the extras to give you an idea.
