Victoria sponge
I asked the local police if they would cone off a couple of parking places in the main road opposite the passage that leads down to our courtyard. This is because in a couple of weeks, our son and grandchildren will be arriving with a vanload of the remaining possessions that have been stored in our loft. I have recruited a team of friends to empty the van as quickly as possible when it arrives. The police said they would sign an order and arrange for the parking places to be kept clear. The request for friends’ help was made with the promise that there would be plenty of tea and cake and so this morning I made the first Victoria sponge. A couple more cakes will have to be made before the date. There were only three of us at the art group this afternoon so there was not much chat but plenty of painting.
