Dahlia burst

From what we’re small plant a few weeks ago, the dahlias have put on a show. Like the lilies the other day these have been in the ground for four or five years. I had worried that the hard sustained frost this past winter might have damaged them. Fortunately not the case.

I do wonder about the rain and cool weather we are having and whether that might lead to rot. Today felt so overcast and autumnal with fairly constant rain/ dampness. And no let up in sight.
