Cheetah cub
So, our second day at Riverside Camp and I was starting to feel extremely under the weather. It began the evening before just as everyone was getting dinner. I just felt like I'd been hit by a ton of bricks and all I wanted to do was go to bed...and that's what I did. My friends (bless) said they kept waking up in the night to check if I was still in the tent. I slept like a log (thank goodness) but woke up feeling still horrible. I wasn't going to miss out on the drives though, so our sunrise drive I dragged myself out with my Maasai blanket and water. When I was photographing, I felt a little better but when we stopped for tea and coffee in the middle of the park, I popped out to see the hippos in the water and just sat on the ground feeling sorry for myself.
The break between morning safari and afternoon safari was also spent with me feeling horrible and being commanded by my teachers to sleep! I got my blanket and travel pillow and slept in the shade near the river.
The afternoon drive was great but there was only 4 of us in the car. My brother (Lewis) was now feeling pretty bad so stayed behind and so we all had a corner of the roof to ourselves! We spent the afternoon looking for cheetah, and we found them! A mother and 3 cubs - great to see! However, a thunderstorm crept in so we had to go as there was a lot of crossings to make. We got back with a puncture - we loved Amos, best driver ever! I then spent the evening wrapped up with a jumper, a fleece and 2 Maasai blankets (thanks to a donation from a teacher for the evening) while everyone else played cards. I really wanted to be feeling better since the next day was travelling all the way to Nairobi and then flying at midnight...
I have made a photobook, which is viewable in PDF format but also ebook for free, that you can have a look at in order to see more of my photos accompanied by text if that interests any of you!
