Monday: Emancipation Day

Today was Emancipation Day, a public holiday commemorating the end of slavery in Belize.  Interestingly, it’s the first time it’s been marked officially.

I had to be up early to attend an event in Belize City. K. drove with me as she doesn’t like me driving there by myself.  I’m glad of it - driving on that particular road always feels a little dicey.  

We were back by late morning so were able to enjoy the rest of the holiday.
