Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

Started out lovely ...

...ended in rain and angst.

Very behind, back blipping this on Tuesday.  I did write a whole lot on Sunday evening, despite the angst, but then lost it, and was too tired to start again.

We had a lovely scrambled egg breakfast to set us up for the day.  Then we packed the car - well, that's the royal we, as W did most of the work.  I lent a hand occasionally, but also sat around and admired the industry shown by ArcLight, weeding her lovely garden.

Once packed, we set off.  First stop Tomatin, where the charger is outside a lovely shop and cafe.  Despite the good breakfast, we were tempted by, and enjoyed, the seafood platter.  By this time we had already run into some rain, and the weather deteriorated markedly as we drove south and west.

It was too far to comfortably drive all the way to Girvan on this charge, so W had planned another stop.  In deciding where to stop, his priority had been the presence of two chargers, making it less likely we would have to queue.  This was correct, but what he had failed to realise was that the chargers were in a suburban sports park, with no facilities for the driver/passengers.  This is actually quite a common feature - the number of chargers is improving, but the surrounding infrastructure of facilities for the drivers is often poor.

W managed to find a corner in a small woodland area, but by the time we set off again, I was getting uncomfortable.  I drove, W scoured Google Maps to find somewhere for a comfort break.  We ended up making a "wee" diversion into Stewarton, where Aldi was still open, and had the requisite facilities.

Rather disastrously and stupidly I managed to leave my phone (the wallet of which also contained several cards, including my driver's licence) in the above-mentioned facilities.

We didn't realise this until we arrived in our hotel, by which time the store was, of course, long closed.  I spent the next hour fretting, in between phoning the credit card company and Bank of Ireland to cancel the cards.

And of course, subsequently slept badly.

See tomorrow's blip for the ongoing saga.
