A sight for sore feet

Day 5: Serve - Aigertstugan (19 km)

Back-blipped once I was back from the trail, with a power outlet and reliable internet access.

What a day.

I knew from the start that this would be challenging. It’s the longest stage of this six-day hike. It has two very significant climbs (250m elevation gained). It passes the highest point of this journey, and indeed the highest point of Kungsleden outside of the Kebnekaise massif. And to top it off, we were going to have a headwind.

The views along the way were truly magnificent. But the best view of them all was seeing the Aigert cabin, still just a tiny dot at 3 km distance… and wrapped in a rainbow. That did help me move along the trail, despite tired feet and exhausted muscles.

About five minutes from the cabin, the skies opened up without warning. I was completely soaked, and my companions - each at their own pace - even more so. But the views were absolutely unbelievable.

First extra: Hikers outside a resting cabin.

Second extra: Reflections.

Third extra: It’s hard to capture the grandeur of these landscapes. I could see all the way back to the Syter valley, tens of kilometres away.
