Snape Maltings River Trip

We were really excited today to be going on a short river trip on the River Alde . The tides hadn’t been suitable on previous days so this was the first opportunity. It was a gentle, relaxing trip winding through the reeds spotting egrets and herons . The captain was really informative about the river and the 1952 flood which left parts of the land permanently underwater.
I was envious of some of the properties built by the water .we also had a good view of Icken Church .
We had lunch and a mooch round the shop at the Maltings always full of beautifully chosen things .
Then we went home to collect Scout, my friend’s dog and have a walk from Thorpeness towards Aldeburgh.
The flowers were wonderful- sea lavender and horned poppies were some of the ones I noticed.
