Pont d'Arc, Gorges de l'Ardeche

We visited the Ardeche gorges for the day and spent some time here at Pont d'Arc. It's very impressive and there were lots of visitors swimming beneath it (including one of my sons and my husband), as well as many people kayaking and viewing from the beaches. It's a beautiful area - I've heard it called  'Europe's Grand Canyon'. We also visited the nearest town, Vallon-Pont-d'Arc but we weren't so taken with it. It was very touristy (so says the tourist!) and seemed a little  soulless to us.  Needless to say, we didn't hang around, grabbing a quick lunch before continuing through the gorges on our way back to our accommodation.
