Mandevilla

I was so pleased and surprised to see the first flower on my Mandevilla  vine this morning. It was replanted from a neighbour’s and I have been waiting to see the start of what will be a very abundant vine.. I only have two other plants in my front garden that have colour at present so any I see is a lovely uplifting experience.

I included the side view to show its tubular shape. I read that it is also known as rock trumpet. The genus was named after Henry Mandevilla (1773-1861), a British diplomat and gardener.
