Reflection/mist on the Okavango river

Watching the mist clear was definitely the highlight of the day before our long drive. It’s a panoramic shot.

I’ve back blipped the last two days now.

We had an early start mainly because we were so cold; the inside of the tent was frozen, as was the windscreen. We relit last night’s fire and sat watching sunrise over the misty river. The colours were beautiful as it cleared. Hard to believe that later on in the morning we were in shorts!

We set off again this time driving towards the Etosha NP. On the way, we stopped in Rundu for food supplies and petrol. We also bought lots of sand toys, musical instruments and crayons for the school we visited last week and made a quick stop there on the way past to deliver them. The class of youngest children had nothing in the classroom except plastic chairs so our gifts were much appreciated.

On the way to Groofontaine, there is a vet border post. We knew we couldn’t take fresh meat in to Etosha but had bought some meat planning to cook it this evening before entering the park tomorrow, however, it turns out we couldn’t take it south at all. The customs man was very friendly and told us to pull over, cook it on the gas burner then carry on, which is exactly what we did.

Spending the night camping at a farmhouse just outside the Etosha NP.
