Strider’s eclectic reading habits include preparing for his old age. I could probably run a masterclass on this topic. In fact that could be my next career move - mentoring people for a grumpy senescence - although to be fair I tend to advocate for the opposite. The Centre for Ageing Better has in fact produced a library of positive images that are free to use in an attempt overcome the stereotype of older people being broken and miserable. 

Today was a difficult day but also a liberating one. The weather was also highly variable although yet again the promised thunderstorms failed to arrive. The Met Office has been predicting them regularly all summer and I think we’ve managed nothing more than the odd grumble of thunder. 

I have been given How To Build A Boat and Study for Obedience as my Booker books this year. Not long books mercifully. I am a little out of practice …
