Stare down with a toad

This handsome little critter, about the size of my fist, sat stolidly on the path. he didn't move and he didn't blink. When I pointed him out to a woman who was walking past, she barely hesitated. She didn't blink either. I decided she must not be a fan of warty little amphibians. You can see his side profile here.
