Local Windmill, Dreumel

A nameless windmill... but such glorious weather!  Very thankful for cloud radar indicating the areas with the least risk.  Note grey clouds in the top right corner.  To be honest, today was the third attempt to shoot this mill properly.  Either the weather was lousy or the mill couldn't 'pose' properly or both.  Even now, as you can see, it has its back to the road, but it was facing the sun and that made such a huge difference.  I did have to trespass on someone's front yard, but all good.

Built in 1845, but after the introduction of electricity early in the 20th century, the mill was no longer as badly needed as previously, so it went into a decline, and in the latter part of the century, the entire 'cap' was even removed, the gaping hole covered by a wooden roof.  Then the grandson of the last miller bought the mill from his grandfather and started a kind of crowdfunding project.  By 2006, enough funds were collected to start repairs.  By 2009, 'roof' gone, the rods and vanes restored.  It had already been included in the monuments list as early as 1977, so putting it back together only confirmed this honour.

Actually, I woke up really late today, but maybe that wasn't so bad as the weather only improved mid-afternoon.  Still busy with research, which really helps me focus and stay positive.  No football today so AW joined not one but two online bridge tournaments.  We didn't dine together, for a change, but each one ate when hungry, so hardly any kitchen duties for either of us.  Thankful for fab weather!
