Here we go!

They arrived at 2.15am last night so it wasn’t easy to wake up this morning to fully unpack the car and move it to a free parking space!
Had a tour of the new Tesla once we’d found a space for it and a little practice drive…like nothing I’ve ever driven before and Mt just exactly as he was when a small boy in terms of excitement and joy now he has the thing he’s wanted for ages. Very comfortable but disconcerting to have everything on screen rather than having dials and switches and buttons as well as being so silent, but it’s lovely.
Home and got breakfast sorted then because we couldn’t book the Plague, Poo and Punishment show they were desperate to see we decided to walk down to the venue. Not easy to find, but when we did get there we found not only that it was sold out but that it was full for the whole time they’re here. I was so furious with myself. I knew that was the main thing that had caught their eye in the programme and should have booked it straight away but had wanted to wait to get other things on my spreadsheet and faff about with alternatives and didn’t think it would sell out so fast. Grr! Mind you, this kind of thing always happens on the first day of a holiday when you’re kind of settling into the groove, so we’ll recover!
Had a slow wander around before our next show, getting their caricature drawn (Mx totally unable to sit still or to hold a ‘normal’ face….as soon as he tried to he squinted, put his chin up or down, closed his eyes etc etc…very funny!
We had a pastry from La Boulanger and H phoned to chat, then we did a bit of a Harry Potter tour at Greyfriars churchyard before seeing ‘Mr Sleepybum’ (their choice!), a rather slapstick show about the dreams he has that parents in the audience had to act out. Everything went wrong for the poor guy…the bed broke, the technician person kept making mistakes with the sound track, and the stage was a bit small for all his props….but he battled through and the kids thought it was part of the act. Mt had to dress as a chicken and Mx in particular thought it was the funniest thing he’d ever seen.
Home for some lunch then Mt and I were whacked so we put on a Harry Potter film and we half dozed on the sofas whilst they watched and played with Lego and drew.. A came round to visit and we had a cup of tea with her but she was dashing off to town to finish shopping for her holiday so we went back to snoozing before booking up the rest of the shows for whilst they’re here.
After supper we went to see the Tinderbox orchestra in the central library. Fantastic! We got front row seats and despite tiredness they both enjoyed it, especially AR who clapped enthusiastically, grinned throughout and clapped along at every opportunity. Great to see how she was drawn in. It was such a full on joyful performance….lots of action, amazing musicianship and fast pace, brilliant.
Home and the weans went straight to bed…we had a cup of tea and an unwind then collapsed!
Started shakily, but it’s been a good day
