Back to Faro
After eight nights in Tavira, we said goodbye to our hotel and its pool (extra) and got the train back to Faro. We managed to work our way through the complicated self-checkin process and got in to our new place, this time an apartment on Rua Vasco da Gama. We knew from the map that it wasn’t far from where we spent our first night, but it wasn’t until we went out and about that we realised just how close (Faro, while feeling bigger than Tavira, is still a small town).
A lot of the streets in this area are pedestrianised, and are beautifully paved with patterned cobblestones. We found a place nearby for lunch (again, not easy to do because of siesta time), explored a bit, had our own siesta and finished the day in À do Pinto, a restaurant we’d recommend to anyone going to Faro. It’s a family-run business, with both father and son really excellent at customer service. We spent quite a while there and were delighted when we and the rest of the remaining customers (many of whom had the appearance of being locals) received complimentary shots to end the night.
