27th Day of Musical May: Bodies of Water - Like a Stranger.

This is not England, this is not on the 27th. But I decided to mess up with the days, and to do it properly. I took this picture in Istanbul two years ago, in the Blue Mosque. It was our first day in this city, our first morning, the first thing we saw. We had to wear veils to go inside. So many tourists were already there. We sat on the carpet floor and soaked up the atmosphere for a while. I can't remember if there was any noise or not, there probably was, but in my memory everything was so calm. It was the beginning of our journey in the most beautiful city I've ever seen so far.

I've uploaded this picture as a tribute to the Turkish people. When I was freely enjoying my time in London, on that same day (31st of May) this people was fighting against its regime, books and families against pepper sprays and guns. The parc they are still trying to save became a symbol of freedom of expression and democracy. But one of the saddest things is that if I didn't have any Turkish friends on Facebook I wouldn't have known about this. When I talked to my mom about the uprisings two days later she didn't know. Why ? Because no fucking media talked about it, and if they do, they just mention it. So here is a link explaining the whole situation: http://defnesumanblogs.com/2013/06/01/what-is-happenning-in-istanbul/.

This picture is blurry but full of emotions. Sometimes i tend to prefer unperfect pictures when they convey something strong, a movement, an emotion. Two years have passed since the 10 days I spent in Istanbul, I've seen other places, I have grown up, met new people, I've lived abroad for almost a year, but I still think about it everyday. And now more than ever. I would go back there right now if someone asks me.
