A sunshiny day

Today Daughter One had planned a visit down the Kintyre peninsula to Campbeltown, as a treat for her upcoming birthday.

We left at 9am and drove down to Tarbert - my Blip today - where we stopped for a coffee and climbed up to the castle. Everywhere was bathed in sunshine, though over to Islay and Jura it looked very wet!

We continued down the east side of the peninsula - nearly 40 miles of single track road -  where we'd planned to have a walk on the beach at Carradale, but the nearest place to park was nearly a mile away, something the brochures don't mention! We ended up going further down to Torrisdale and sat on the beach to have our picnic in the sunshine, looking across to the Isle of Arran. Somebody had been practising balancing stones on the rocks, so we all had a go - see extra for my effort!

We eventually arrived at Campbeltown where we spent some time wandering about the town and popped into the Lady Linda McCartney Memorial Garden, a lovely place with flowers and tree ferns - another extra.

We finally left to return north along the main road, on the west side of Kintyre, and stopped again in Tarbert for a meal in the Anchor Hotel. After a whole day of beautiful sunshine we finally met up with the rain eight miles from Oban, where it appeared to be very wet!

A wonderful day in some beautiful scenery - and a lot of photographs to go through!
