Hole making!

It’s quite smelly ( reminds me of a drill at the dentists) but in order to make holes in ostrich quills you heat a hat pin, and when red hot, poke it through the spine.  Smoke comes off, with a horrid smell, but it does work wonderfully well.


I took the hat over for its fitting this morning, and spent the afternoon doing the trim.
