Little Brown Bat
I woke up at 4:30 this morning to H with the flashlight tracing this bat flying frantically around the very high bedroom ceiling. We hear them at night outside doing their thing catching insects, but have tried to plug any possible entrances. Not sure where this one got in. We have a bathouse near the studio but they like it here better. H tried to catch it but gave up and we went to sleep on the sleeping porch. Then in the daytime when the bat is sleeping it can sometimes be caught. Not this one. Unfortunately he didn’t survive and I’m VERY sorry about that, but at least we know it didn’t have any signs of white nose disease which is infecting them. The extra is taken at 4:40 am ..best the iPhone would do..but you can see how big it seemed…those boards are 8”. (It was a bit lower)
It is on the endangered list in north America but I do know there are lots more here. We will bury it properly.
A nap, A nice FaceTime chat with friend and now H is off to pick up son Peter and Maple for a few days. (Second extra)
More bat info. Here. [/url
