NORVAL GALLERY
Our choice for our mother -daughter date . The Norval Gallery is in the Sternberg area and has a magnificent sculpture garden .
The Maggie Lauscher portrait exhibition was our main focus. I just loved her use of shapes and colours. She spent time in Europe during the exciting period post World War 1 and was influenced by the move away from the conservative realism in current vogue . Back home her work was harshly criticised initially.
The installation is by Berni Searl and the images are of the burned buildings of UCT in particular the Library... Very moving.
At the restaurant we shared three small plates of delicious food. Such a clever concept as you have a larger variety of food to taste.
