Question - WTF?

I realise that wildlife photography is not my thing but does anyone know what this is?

There are about thirty of them on one of our kitchen walls (this critter is on the tv). They never move, but all face the same way. Oh and the main bit is about 6mm long.

A mystery. Something to do with having an inside/outside room I suppose.
