Between fen and mountains

Guitar and cello

I went into town very early in the morning to the market in an attempt to avoid the holiday crowds. I was there at 8 am and did not have to queue at many of the stalls. The supermarket shop was quickly accomplished and I was back by 10 a.m. There were no takers for French conversation in the afternoon which made for a much quieter day. I did go out to ring before the concert of guitar and cello. It is becoming a custom to give a performance of the bells before musical concerts. People enjoy listening as they are waiting for the main concert to start and some people have said that the bells act a reminder that there is something on and then they come along. The duo played mostly Hispanic compositions. I did not stay too long as I had said I would meet friends at the tennis club and watch some of the tournament. It turned out that one of the competitors was an old sparring partner at Prades badminton club with whom I played every week. We did not recognise each other initially. He, like me, has changed sport from badminton to tennis. We had a good catch up.
