Band-eyed Drone Fly

In the herb part of one of the courtyards of the former convent where my mother is residing right now there are these spearmint shrubs and they are teeming with these special hover flies with very special eyes !

We’re getting ready to depart for The Netherlands tomorrow, hopefully we won’t have to stand in hours long queues before the Swiss border and before the Gotthard tunnel this time. Taking it slowly, we’ll go until just past Luzern tomorrow.
