While they were here, friends Helen and Bob introduced us to a new mobile App called Merlin Bird ID.  Forgive me if you know all this already, but the idea is that it helps you to identify wild birds that you see or hear when you're out and about.  It gives you access to eBird, apparently the world’s largest database of bird sightings, sounds, and photos.

I thought it was brilliant and so today, I downloaded it and I've been playing with it in the garden.  It was very easy to use and very quickly it had identified all the birds that I could see around the feeders.  But then, I went and sat next to the fence at the far end of the garden where you are closest to the River Dee, albeit way down below you.  Imagine my delight when the above group popped up - especially the last one?

It is obviously going to be very useful in putting me on track to find that illusive bird ...........................!
